About Karen Tallackson Bacon

 

Karen Tallackson Bacon holds an M.A. in art history, with a focus on European Impressionist and Modern art, Latin American art, and Post-War and Contemporary art. She served previously as an art appraiser, department director and vice president with Butterfield & Butterfield (now Bonhams), where she was responsible for significantly growing the department of Modern, Contemporary and Latin American art, realizing year-over-year revenue increases and dramatically increasing the national and international client base. She was an early supporter of art and technology initiatives which led her to explore unique employment opportunities in the technology sector.

She has served as a past member of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art Modern Art Council, and as an advisor to the Guggenheim Museum, SOHO, New York, where she helped to oversee the launch of the auxiliary museum. She currently serves on the board of the Appraisers Association of America. She has also served for six years on the board of the University of Oregon College of Design, and held a board position with the Wiegand Gallery of Art at the University of Notre Dame de Namur in Belmont, California. She is a member of ArtTable, the leadership organization for professional women in the visual arts.

Ms. Tallackson Bacon has contributed to numerous art publications and assisted in the development of exhibition catalogs for various museums and galleries.

She is a Certified member of the Appraisers Association of America and has successfully completed the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) examination, the Congressionally-recognized set of appraisal standards promulgated by The Appraisal Foundation (www.appraisalfoundation.org).
